Application for admission to the various courses of study , except the Self-Financing Courses, should be made in the prescribed form, which is available along with the prospectus on payment of Rs. 50/- only. For admission to the Self –Financing Courses there are separate application forms.
Eligibility and selection rules.
a) Only those candidates who have passed the qualifying examination shall be eligible to apply. A candidate securing less than 50% marks in Mathematics in the last qualifying examination shall not be eligible for admission in science. However, for SC/ST candidates 45% is the cut off marks.
b) Normally 60% of the seats are reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST.
c) Seats are also reserved for children/own brothers and sisters of the college staff.
d) A few seats are also reserved for candidates having outstanding performance in co-curricular activities like sports , cultural and literary activities etc.
e) The admitted students desiring to offer Honours shall have to apply to the concerned Head of the Department in plain paper along with a copy of H.S 2nd year final examination Mark sheet. Generally selection is done through a selection test conducted by the department concerned
f) Admission into the college is , however , made strictly on the basis of merit and the decision of the Principal is final in this regard.
C. How to apply
The prescribed application form complete in all respects should be submitted on or before the last date notified by the college. A candidate praying for admission under staff quota must apply to the Principal in a plain paper duly signed by his/her parents / brother / sister and attach along with application .The candidate also should write “Seat under staff Quota “ on top of the prescribed form. Candidates seeking admission under co-curricular activities should write “Seat under co-curricular Activity Quota” on top of the prescribed form.
While submitting the prescribed application form the following certificates and documents duly attested should be attached.
(1) Mark sheet (s) of the last qualifying examination.
(2) Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
(3) Caste certificate for SC/ST candidates.
(4) Age certificate (HSLC Admit card).
(5) Those who have passed last qualifying examination from outside Assam are to produce PRC/Trading Licence, Ration Card etc. issued either from the DC or the SDO (civil). Those who are not permanent residents of Assam, but their parents are working in Assam, should produce certificate issued from the place of employment .
(6) Certificate from concerned Authorities for candidates applying under “co-curricular Activities Quota”
(The candidates are also required to produce the above certificates and documents in original at the time of admission for verification).
N.B. Date of admission to different classes are usually notified on the college Notice Board and are published in local news papers.
