Combination of Subjects in the Three- Year Degree Courses.

Arts

English, MIL( Assamese/ Bodo) / Alt. English and Foundation Course are compulsory for both Pass and Honours courses.

   In addition, one must offer any three of the following Elective Subjects.

      (i) Economics 

     (ii) Education / Philosophy / Geography / El. Assamese

    (iii) History /Maths / El. Assamese

     (iv) Political Science / Maths.

   A student may offer Honours in any one of the following Subjects:

                          (i) Assamese 

                         (ii) Education 

                        (iii) Economics 

                         (iv) English 

                          (v) Geography 

                         (vi) History 

                        (vii) Mathematics 

                       (viii) Philosophy 

                 and (ix)  Political Science .

Science : 

            English and Foundation Course are compulsory for both Pass and Honours. In addition, one must offer any one of the following combinations as Elective Subjects.

             i) Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

            ii) Physics, Geography and mathematics.

           iii) Chemistry, Zoology and Botany.

           iv) Geography, Zoology and Botany.

   A student may offer Honours in any one of the following Subjects:

  (i)   Physics

 (ii)    Chemistry

(iii)    Mathematics

(iv)    Geography

(v)      Zoology

(vi)    Botany (subject to approval of AU, Silchar)

Note: To offer Honours in Physics or Chemistry (Even Pass course in Physics) one must pass Mathematics in H.S. final examination.

Commerce  : 

English, MIL (Assamese/ Bodo) / Alt. English and Foundation Course are compulsory for both Pass and Honours.

Pass Course : 

  For Pass Course, one must offer 14 Papers of 100 Marks each belonging to Group A,B,C,D, & E as per the Course Structure ( For details, see the Course Structure).

A student can offer Honours in any one of the following Subjects:

(i)                  Accountancy and Taxation

(ii)                Business Management.

Honours  Course : 

     An Honours student has to offer 10 Papers of 100 Marks each belonging to Group A,B,C, & D and 8 Papers of 100 Marks each of the Honours Group as per option (For details, see the Course Structure).

 

Note: Students of Arts and Commerce shall not be allowed to offer MIL other than Assamese, Bengali and Bodo without prior permission of Assam University.
